We will be playing best ball which will help everyone to have a great time regardless of their golf skills. Unity Baptist Church is proud to host the 3rd Annual MAYDAY 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on May 26, 2012. MAYDAY 3-on-3 is a basketball tournament for teens in the greater Champaign-Urbana area. To compete, you must be in the 6th-12th grade and have a team of at least 2 other players by May 26, 2012. The entry fee is $5, and it must be turned in with your registration form at least a week before the tournament. It’s that time of year again! Church League Softball will begin in mid-April. We don’t have many details right now, but we are starting to sign up those that would like to play this year. If you’d be interested in playing on our team (co-rec), please do so as quickly as possible so we’ll be able to take care of the paper work with the Park District. It’s almost time for our 5th Annual AWANA Grand Prix! The kids in our AWANA Clubs will be competing on February 22, 2012, at 6:30 p.m. for first prize in our AWANA Grand Prix Pinewood Derby. Clubbers have spent the past few weeks building and decorating their pinewood race cars to make the fastest and best looking race car out there. The evening will be spent racing these beautiful, wooden speed machines that the kids have worked so hard to create. So start your engines and join us this Wednesday night for the Ultimate Race Night! Family and friends of clubbers are welcome to join us.
We want to say a big Thank You to this year’s softball team for a wonderful season. We lost our 2nd round tournament game last night to Temple Baptist to finish out the season. We finished the year with some wins and some losses, but we also built some great relationships with our teammates and other churches in our league. Overall, we had an uplifting and encouraging softball season which ended up with all of us having a lot of fun together. We had a great season this year and look forward to next year! Thanks to those of you who came out and cheered us on! We’ll see ya next year!

Congratulations to our softball team for winning the first round of the church softball tournament. We were able to defeat Pennsylvania Avenue on Monday in 5 innings. Now we need to carry the energy from this win to our next tournament game on Monday! We will be playing Temple Baptist in the 2nd round of the tournament on Dodds Field #6 at 6:00pm on Monday night, August 1st. If we win this game, we’ll be playing the next round of the tournament at 8:00pm, so hopefully Monday is a full night for us! If you get a chance, please come and cheer us on to victory!

Our softball team lost a hard fought battle on Monday to St. John’s Chapel. The final score was 9-10 in favor of St. Johns Chapel. We’re looking forward to this week’s game coming up on Monday against Savoy UMC. We’re hoping and planning to bounce right back with an exciting win. The game will start at 7:00 p.m. and will be held at Dexter Field. Please come on out and cheer us on to win!

Unity Baptist Church and Unity Youth Center will be hosting our 2011 MAYDAY 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on May 21st right here at Unity Baptist Church. The tournament will start at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning and go most of the day. This will be a single-elimination tournament for all teens in grades 6-12. The cost is $10 per player to register for the tournament with a maximum of four players per team. Lunch and tournament t-shirts will be provided to each player. If you would like to be involved, registration forms can be obtained at Unity Baptist Church and are due by May 14th. Please feel free to call for more information at 217-649-3359.
