Missions Breakfast to Kick Off Missions Emphasis Sunday

Date: Sunday, September 16, 2012
Time: 8:30 am
Location: Unity Baptist Church

On September 16th, we are going to have our Missions Emphasis Sunday. This year we are going to have 2 missionaries with us: Jonathan Robertson (Costa Rica), and Nathan Montgomery (Salt and Light). We’re going to kick off our Missions Emphasis with a breakfast on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. We will not have our regular Sunday School classes on this day, and no Jr. Church. Everyone will meet at the assembly room of the Carpenter’s Union building next door. We’ll eat breakfast together, and hear the report from Nathan Montgomery on Salt and Light. Then we’ll move to our building to have our services.

We would love for you to join us for this special breakfast, but we need you to sign up if you’re going to join us. This will help us know how much food we need to prepare. Please contact the church to sign up! We hope that you’ll plan on joining us for this special day, and also be praying about what the Lord would have you give for missions through your Faith Promise.

Adolpho and April Ruesga: Our Missionaries to Mexico

Adolpho Ruesga was raised in a Christian home in Mexico and was saved at the age of 7. In 1992, he accepted the call to ministry. April was also raised in a Christian home, being the daughter of missionaries to Mexico. Her grandparents were also missionaries there. At the age of 6, she received Christ as her Savior.

The Ruesga’s knew each other from the time they were children, and were married in 2001. Shortly after, they surrendered their lives to serve the Lord in Saltillo, Mexico, and helped to start the Saltillo Baptist Church. Adolpho served as the Senior Pastor of this church until May, 2008. Their goal in ministry is that which is outlined in the Great Commission – Evangelizing – Baptizing – Training – and Reaching Others. Under Adolpho’s leadership, the Saltillo church planted two other churches in the area, supported 20 missionaries, and sent two families as missionaries to the foreign field. The Ruesga’s are now serving in Orizaba, Veracruz, Mexico. They have 3 young children.

We have been privileged to have them as our missionaries for the past 4 years. The faithful giving of our people to missions provides the funds to keep them on this needy field. Please keep them in your prayers as you meet with the Lord this week! You can find out more about the Ruesga Family by visiting their website.

Praying for Nepal

Nepal is a country of about 30 million people; 380 different people groups; and 127 languages. It is 75% Hindu, and less than 3% Christian. Since 2008 there have been sweeping political reforms which have given new opportunities for the advance of the gospel. Pray that Nepali believers will move quickly to take advantage of these opportunities.

With communist China on its northern border, there are Maoist rebels (terrorists) within Nepal that threaten the political stability of the country. Pray for the spiritual strength and physical safety of our missionaries to Nepal, David and Karen Freeman. Pray also for the believers in Nepal, that they will stand fast in faith, and fearlessly proclaim the truths of the gospel in this deeply pagan nation.

If you would like to know more about how to pray for Nepal, please check out Operation World by clicking here or by watching the short video below.
