Mighty Men Bible Study Group Announcement

One of the ministries we provide for our men (College and above) is called “Mighty Men,” after the small group of men who stood with David for the sake of the kingdom. Right now, we have 3 “Mighty Men” Groups that meet. If you would like to join up with one, here’s the information:

Pastor Brady’s M.M. Group – We’ll be starting this group back up, beginning on Tuesday, September 20 – November 15th, from 6-8 p.m. We will be doing a 9 week study in Dr. David Platt’s book entitled “Radical.” The cost for this study is yet to be determined. There is a sign-up sheet in the lobby our men need to sign if they plan to join us for this study. Please contact the church office with any questions or email Pastor Brady by clicking here. To check out a video preview this study, please click here.

Ed McCammack’s M.M. Group – Ed leads this group of men each Thursday evening at 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in his home at 2923 Stone Creek Blvd. in Urbana. Awana Clubs to Begin on September 21st

Date: beginning Wednesday, September 21, 2011
Time: 6:30 pm
Location: Unity Baptist Church

We are excited to announce that our Awana Clubs for kids will be starting again on September 21st, 2011. All kids are invited to be a part of one of our three different Awana Clubs: Cubbies (preschool), Sparks (K-2), and T&T (third to sixth grade). Awana Clubs are a great place for children to meet new friends and build their confidence, be involved in fun activities which will encourage physical exercise, and most importantly learn about God from the Bible to help them grow spiritually! If you would like your child to be involved in Awana Clubs at Unity Baptist Church, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at the church.

Teen Activity: End of Summer Bonfire Bash!

Date: Saturday, August 27, 2011
Time: 5:30 pm
Location: meet at Unity Youth Center

August is promotion month, and some of our elementary kids will be moving up into the youth group. On Sunday, August 28th, we’ll be promoting a couple of students from the younger elementary classes into the youth group. In order to welcome them properly, we are going to be having a special activity on Saturday, August 27th, to introduce them to the rest of the youth group. We’re going to call it our End of Summer Bonfire Bash! We will be heading over to the home of the David Jones’ Family for a night filled with food, fun, and lots of activity around the fire! I’d recommend bringing some dark clothes (for games) that you don’t mind getting smelly and dirty around the bonfire. Festivities will start at 5:30pm and be finished at 9:00pm. We will meet at the Youth Center at 5:30pm to head to the Jones’ home. Parents can pick their teens up at 9pm at the Youth Center. All teenagers are welcome to attend! We hope to see you there! If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Dan by clicking here.

We were so encouraged by your generosity in giving for this project. We were able to purchase enough ribbon to help meet the entire need for this mission project. Now, all that is needed is to cut the ribbons and finish it up! Ladies, come to fellowship, watch some funny “I Love Lucy” reruns, and help our missionaries by cutting some ribbon! If you are planning on coming, please B.Y.O.S (Bring your own scissors)! “Many hands (scissors) make light work!”

Thanks for a Great Season Unity!

We want to say a big Thank You to this year’s softball team for a wonderful season. We lost our 2nd round tournament game last night to Temple Baptist to finish out the season. We finished the year with some wins and some losses, but we also built some great relationships with our teammates and other churches in our league. Overall, we had an uplifting and encouraging softball season which ended up with all of us having a lot of fun together. We had a great season this year and look forward to next year! Thanks to those of you who came out and cheered us on! We’ll see ya next year!
