We Encourage You to Vote

Date: Tuesday, November 2, 2010
Time: 6:00 am
Location: Your Local Polling Place

We hope everyone will make it to the polls this Tuesday for the mid-term elections. The polls open at 6 a.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m., giving everyone the opportunity to vote. We’re privileged to live in a republic that gives us the right as citizens to choose those who are going to lead us. We encourage everyone to take advantage of this right that so many of our fellow citizens have fought to preserve for us. As Edmund Burke once said, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.”

Teen Fall Party

Posted October 20, 2010 in News Articles, Teen Activity, UNITE Youth Group, Youth Ministries

On October 16th, Pastor Dan and Laura threw a fall party for the teenagers. We all got together around 1 p.m. and had some snacks (apple donuts and cider were included) and played some games. Then, the real fun began! The teens paired up into teams of two and were stationed by a pumpkin. With the tools in hand, the teens were given and hour to carve their pumpkins. After the carving was completed, candles were put into each pumpkin and the judging began! We judged each of the pumpkins according to three different categories: Creativity, Knife Skills, and Overall Jack-O-Lantern Appeal. The team that won received tons of candy and pop to take home! Congratulations to Tony and Je’lun Brothern along with Lazerik Winfield who had the coolest design and along with awesome technique.

After the pumpkin carving was done, the teens bobbed for apples and played a game of Ultimate Frisbee without the Frisbee! Instead, a bag filled with pumpkin guts was the throwing object of choice. The teens all had a blast at this activity, and Pastor Dan and Laura are hoping that these kind of activities will help them in building relationships with the teenagers so that they can better minister to them for Jesus Christ!

Great Turnout for Church Outreach

Posted October 12, 2010 in Church Outreach, Events, Family Ministries, News Articles

At 10:30 a.m. on the morning of October 9th, we as a church body had the opportunity to pass out information about our church along with Gospel tracts to some of those in our community. Many families and individuals who are a part of our church came out to help; and in this situation, the more help the merrier! With all the help that we received, we were able to pass out a total of 500 packets of information about our church to homes in the community! From this outreach, we have seen some families contact us already with interest about the church – what an answer to prayer!

We appreciate all of you that came out on Saturday morning to help. Thanks so much for being willing to give your time for service to our Lord! We are praying that the Lord uses this outreach for His glory and that someone in our community will come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior through this!

Church Outreach: Passing Out Flyers

Date: Saturday, October 9, 2010
Time: 10:30 am
Location: Unity Baptist Church

Come on out next Saturday, October 9th at 10:30 a.m., and help us with our Fall Church Outreach. This fall we’ll be taking 500 fliers and packets filled with information about our church and hanging them on the doors of many of the homes in the community surrounding our church. In order to accomplish this task, we’ll need several people to help us go out in the nearby neighborhoods and pass this information out.

Our goal is to get this information into the hands of families in the homes surrounding our church, so that they will know more about our church, what we believe, and how to accept Christ as their Savior. You can help us accomplish this goal by bringing your family and helping us pass out these packets of information. If you’d like to be involved, sign up in the lobby at the church and/or show up at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday here at the church! We’d love to have you and would appreciate your help.

Trunks of Treats

Date: Sunday, October 31st, 2010
Time: 5:00 pm
Location: Unity Baptist Parking Lot

On Sunday, October 31st, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Unity Baptist Church will be hosting our annual “Trunks of Treats” Halloween event. This is chance for volunteers from our church to provide a safe place for children and families in our neighborhood to come and get candy for Halloween.

What we’d like you to do is decorate your trunk for Halloween (nothing evil or scary) – open it up for display on our church parking lot – and have some candy for the kids who come trick-or-treating. This will help us get our church name before the people of the area immediately surrounding our church; and give us the opportunity to share the gospel with them through the literature that we will have to pass out.

We’d love for you to consider taking a few hours out of your Sunday night to help us share Christ with those families that come. Please put your name on the sign-up sheet at church if you would like to be involved!
